This is a Walt Whitman quote the artist uses to capture postmodern artwork. Whitman had prose that entrained the reader. No one else would say as much about America in the 1800s. He reveled in reflecting on daily life's meanings and purpose. He was at once alone and with all of us. He reinvented everything and lost all of it. He was an American son. The nation turned its eyes to him. We have often needed a hero and none has appeared. Life goes on and we find ourselves.
